Our mission
Illicit wealth crosses borders faster than any single jurisdiction can follow it. GCIRP exists to follow it anyway — to connect the records, name the networks, and hold the powerful accountable through rigorous, sourced investigation that belongs to the public rather than to any one government or market.
How we work
Every investigation is built from primary sources and independently cross-checked before publication. We put questions to those we name and publish their responses, and we distinguish clearly between what records establish and what remains alleged. A sanctions listing, debarment or Interpol Red Notice is a public record, not a finding of guilt: people and entities are presumed innocent unless a court has ruled otherwise. Independence
GCIRP is a non-profit. We take no advertising from the industries we cover. The work is funded by members and by grants to GCIRP, and funders have no influence over editorial decisions, the choice of subjects, or the timing of publication — no funder reviews stories before they run. This separation between funding and reporting is a condition of the work, not a courtesy.
Collaboration
Corruption is transnational, and so is the reporting it takes to expose it. GCIRP works with journalists, researchers and open-data communities across jurisdictions, and shares sourcing and methods wherever doing so does not endanger a source. If you are a reporter, researcher or newsroom who wants to collaborate, we want to hear from you.
Support the work
Independent investigation is expensive and slow, and it makes powerful enemies. Membership and grants are what keep it independent. Membership payments are processed in cryptocurrency without third-party identity checks, and we collect the minimum data needed to provide access.
