Iran’s UN envoy calls new aviation sanctions ‘economic terrorism’

Iran’s UN envoy, Gholamhossein Darzi, has condemned new US sanctions on the Iranian aviation sector as an example of “economic terrorism”, IRNA reported. In a letter to the UN Security Council, Darzi accused the US of imposing collective punishment and committing a crime against humanity. Darzi said the sanctions constitute a clear violation of the UN Charter and fundamental rules of international law, including human rights law and obligations to protect civilians.
