Kites , Strikes and a Stalled Disarmament : How Gaza Ceasefire Is Being Tested From Every Direction

On the morning of August 23, Israeli forces struck a warehouse near az-Zawayda in central Gaza that the military said was associated with Hamas weapons production. Flying debris and shrapnel spread dozens of meters in every direction. Among those hit was Mohammad Abdel-Salam Taha, four years old, who was pronounced dead at a hospital. At least five others were wounded. The IDF had issued a prior warning to the owners of the property to evacuate; the warehouse caught fire and was reduced, in the words of one witness speaking to Al Jazeera, to "a pile of mangled steel and concrete." Hours later, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a joint statement that had nothing to
