Tehran measure to stabilise goods prices set for nationwide rollout, mayor says

Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani has said that a municipal initiative to stabilise goods prices and offset the impact of US sanctions will be extended nationwide. Zakani wrote on X that despite Trump and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s "economic war on Iranians", Tehran Municipality launched the “Zero-Inflation Initiative” to freeze essential goods prices for six months. "This economic shield is set to expand nationwide to counter US pressure," he said. On Thursday, Zakani wrote on X: "Our heartfelt belief is that we are in an all-out war and must do everything in our power to reduce the economic pressure on the people.
