US Congressman says support growing for bill to stop Israeli settlements
Hilal Saki10/15/2026

Support keeps growing for the proposed Stop the Settlements Act, which would sanction anyone looking to take Palestinian land in the West Bank or Gaza, US Congressman Joaquin Castro has said. "Since I introduced the bill alongside Reps. Dean, Beyer, Casar, Jacobs, and Escobar, over 50 members have now co-sponsored," Castro wrote on X. He said settlement expansion pushes Palestinians "off their land and makes peace harder to achieve". "It’s time to use tools like sanctions to stop it," he said, posting the names of 10 new representatives who have supported the proposed legislation.
